Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion couldn't keep up with Rapid City Post 22 Bullets and fell 13-3 on Wednesday.

 

Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion got on the board in the top of the first inning after Tucker Olson singled, Darin Crooks doubled, and Walker Viessman doubled, each scoring one run.

 

Rapid City Post 22 Bullets flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 7-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Bridger Karn that drove in two.

 

#18 earned the win for Rapid City Post 22 Bullets. They allowed six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out two and walking four. Riley Pollreisz took the loss for Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion. The starting pitcher went two innings, giving up seven runs on six hits, striking out two and walking four.

 

Olson and Viessman each collected two hits for Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion. Viessman and Crooks were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion.

 

Rapid City Post 22 Bullets collected 12 hits in the game. Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion had trouble keeping up with Rapid City Post 22 Bullets in a 7-1 loss on Wednesday..

 

Rapid City Post 22 Bullets were the first to get on the board in the second when #18 singled, scoring two runs.

 

A single by Bridger Karn extended the Rapid City Post 22 Bullets lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning.

 

Grady Barclay hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth for the Rapid City Post 22 Bullets.

 

Walker Viessman stepped on the bump first for Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion. They gave up eight hits and seven runs (five earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking three. Maddux Kraft began the game for Rapid City Post 22 Bullets. They gave up five hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out two and walking one.

 

Sean Sewell went 1-for-2 at the plate as the infielder led the team with one run batted in. Darin Crooks went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion in hits. Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion turned one double play in the game.

 

Brayden Stapert set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Rapid City Post 22 Bullets with two hits in four at bats. Barclay and #18 each drove in two runs for Rapid City Post 22 Bullets. Cooper Kimball stole two bases. Rapid City Post 22 Bullets turned two double plays in the game. Rapid City Post 22 Bullets didn't commit a single error in the field. Sixth-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Rapid City Post 320 Shooters Past Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion

Rapid City Post 320 Shooters defeated Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion 15-4 on Friday thanks in part to eight runs in the sixth inning.

 

Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion got on the board in the top of the first inning after Brock Lewis doubled, and Sean Sewell singled, each scoring one run.

 

Rapid City Post 320 Shooters tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a double by Tyler H, and a sacrifice fly by Julce H.

 

In the bottom of the second, Rapid City Post 320 Shooters broke up the tie when Gavin H lined out, scoring one run. Then a double by Colby W followed to extend the lead to 5-2.

 

Rapid City Post 320 Shooters added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Kooper D hit into a fielder's choice, and Spencer H hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

 

Rapid City Post 320 Shooters scored eight runs on eight hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. H doubled, scoring three runs, Ben T singled, scoring one run, H singled, scoring two runs, and Mason K doubled, scoring two runs.

 

Dominic C earned the win for Rapid City Post 320 Shooters. They surrendered seven hits and four runs (three earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking two. Kale Huiner started the game for Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion. The righty allowed three hits and five runs (two earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking one.

 

Lewis drove the middle of the lineup, leading Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Sewell led Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion with three hits in four at bats.

 

Rapid City Post 320 Shooters collected 14 hits in the game. H went 1-for-2 at the plate as they led the team with four runs batted in. W went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Rapid City Post 320 Shooters in hits. Beck C, H, and K each collected multiple hits for Rapid City Post 320 Shooters. Rapid City Post 320 Shooters got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run.

 

Rapid City Post 320 Shooters extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Mason K and Seth L.

 

Colby W earned the win for Rapid City Post 320 Shooters. They allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking one. Tate Lyons took the loss for Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion. The left-handed pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking one.

Rapid City Post 22 Bullets got on the board in the top of the second inning after #18 singled, Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion committed an error, Brock Walier singled, and #16 singled, each scoring two runs.

 

Rapid City Post 22 Bullets added one run in the third. Bridger Karn singled on a full count, making the score 9-0.

 

Rapid City Post 22 Bullets scored nine runs on seven hits in the top of the fourth inning. #25 doubled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Brayden Stapert singled, scoring one run, #28 doubled, scoring two runs, #27 singled, scoring one run, #25 drew a walk, scoring one run, and #18 drew a walk, scoring one run.

 

#13 earned the win for Rapid City Post 22 Bullets. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out four and walking two. Riley Pollreisz took the loss for Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion. They went three and two-thirds innings, giving up 14 runs (eight earned) on 12 hits, striking out two and walking three.

 

Pollreisz and Ryder Allbright were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion.

 

Rapid City Post 22 Bullets piled up 15 hits in the game. #18, the number nine hitter for Rapid City Post 22 Bullets, led the way with five runs batted in. The second baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion Come Up Short Against Rapid City Post 22 Bullets

Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion lost to Rapid City Post 22 Bullets 10-5 on Thursday.

 

Rapid City Post 22 Bullets got on the board in the top of the first inning after Conor Konvalin hit into a fielder's choice, and Brock Wauer singled, each scoring one run.

 

A single by Ben Hassett extended the Rapid City Post 22 Bullets lead to 3-0 in the top of the second inning.

 

Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the second after Ryder Allbright doubled, and Riley Pollreisz singled, each scoring two runs.

 

Wauer doubled, which helped Rapid City Post 22 Bullets tie the game at four in the top of the third.

 

Rapid City Post 22 Bullets took the lead in the top of the fourth. Bridger Karn hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, to give Rapid City Post 22 Bullets the leg up, 5-4.

 

#27 earned the win for Rapid City Post 22 Bullets. The reliever allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking three. Walker Viessman Has Lots Of Hits But Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion Fall To Gillette

Walker Viessman collected three hits in four at bats, but Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion lost to Gillette 15-5 on Monday.. Viessman singled in the seventh inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

 

Gillette got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kaesin Wood scored after tagging up, and Carmine Newman grounded out, each scoring one run.

 

An error extended the Gillette lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the second inning.

 

A single by Newman extended the Gillette lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the third inning.

 

Gillette scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Wood singled, scoring one run, Ethan Hecker singled, scoring one run, Newman tripled, scoring two runs, and Drew Wasson singled, scoring one run.

 

Gillette scored six runs on two hits in the bottom of the eighth inning. An error scored two runs, Hecker tripled, scoring one run, Caisen Schilling drew a walk, scoring one run, Ryker Smith drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ethan Lemke drew a walk, scoring one run.

 

Ryder Voigt earned the win for Gillette. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out eight and walking two. Zach Wilson took the loss for Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, giving up nine runs (seven earned) on nine hits, striking out one and walking one.

 

Ryder Allbright, Viessman, Sean Sewell, and Riley Pollreisz each drove in one run for Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion. Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion worked the count all day, accumulating six walks.

 

Gillette accumulated 12 hits in the game. Newman provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Gillette with four runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Hecker led Gillette with three hits in five at bats. Wood, Wasson, and Smith each collected multiple hits for Gillette. Gillette had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Schilling , Newman, and Lemke led the team with two free passes each.

Strong Hitting Not Enough As Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion Falls to Billings Expos 16U To Close Out The Weekend​

Even though Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion collected five hits to Billings Expos 16U's four, they still fell 9-5 on the final of the three-game series against Billings.   Ryder Allbright led Spearfish on the day with two hits.  

​

Bilings jumped out to an early lead putting up three runs in the first inning.  Spearfish answered in the top of the second thanks to a single by Connor Johnson, a passed ball and a single by Allbright.  

​

Billings regained the lead in the bottom half of the second scoring three, and then stretched the lead to 9-3 scoring one in the fourth and two in the fifth, while holding Spearfish scoreless.

​

Spearfish would put runs on the board in the fifth and sixth inning but would ultimately fall short with a final score of 9-5.  

​

Zach Wilson took the loss for Spearfish.  The righty went three innings, allowing eight runs (five earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking five.  

​

Allbright led Spearfish with two runs batted in.  The outfielder went 2-for-4 on the day. 

Spearfish Post 164 Jr Legion has a bit of a break in action, and will return on Wednesday, May 8 as they head to Wyoming to take on Gillette with first pitch scheduled for 5:30pm.  

Spearfish Post 164 JR Legion Trounce Billings Expos 16U​

Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion won big over Billings Expos 16U 11-2 on Sunday and New Underwood Field. 

​

Spearfish opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles.  Spearfish got on the board when Tucker Olson singled, scoring two runs.  

​

Spearfish added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Olson doubled, and Jackson Peters-Hatten singled, each scoring one run.  

 

Spearfish scored five runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning.  Brock Lewis Singled, scoring two runs, Connor Johnson singled, scoring two runs and Zach Wilson singled, scoring two runs.  

 

Tate Lyons earned the win for Spearfish, with the southpaw allowing only one hit and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking five.  

Spearfish collected 11 hits in the game.  Olson, Riley Pollreisz, and Lewis each collected two hits, while Johnson, Olson, and Wilson each drove in two runs for Spearfish.  

 

Spearfish took a quick moment to celebrate their first win of the 2024 season before wrapping up the weekend in their third matchup against Billings Expos 16U. 


 

Spearfish Post 164 JR Legion Falls In Game 1 Against Billings Expos 16U​

Spearfish Post 164 Jr. Legion had trouble keeping up with Billings Expos 16U in a 12-2 loss at Underwood Field in Billings.  

​

A single by Kale Huiner put Spearfish on the board in the top of the second, but Spearfish wouldn't find the scoreboard again until the sixth inning.  

Walker Viessman took the loss for Spearfish.  He went four innings, giving up seven runs on six hits, striking out one and walking three.  

​

Ryder Allbright set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Spearfish with two hits in three at bats.  Huiner and Darin Crooks each drove in one run for Spearfish.  

Spearfish Jr Legion would have the rest of the afternoon off as they watched and cheered on the Spearfish Sr Legion team as they finished the day with a double header against Billings Expos 18U.  

Spearfish Jr Legion returns to action on Sunday as they close out their weekend with a double header against Billings Expos 16U. 

Spearfish Post 164 JR Legion Falls After Strong Showing By Gillette​

Spearfish Post 164 JR Legion couldn't keep up with Gillette and fell 16-4 on Tuesday. 

​

Gillette got on the board in the top of the first inning after Ethan Hecker scored after tagging up, and Dane Watson was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run. Gillette added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Hecker doubled, and and drove in a run.  

​

Spearfish tied the game up in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Tate Lyons, a single by Riley Pollreisz, a walk by Tucker Olson, and a single by Sean Sewell.  

​

Gillette flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth inning, scoring 7 runs to take a 11-4 lead.  The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Carrson Percifield that drove in two.  Gillette scored five more runs on four hits in the top of the 7th.  

 

Newman earned the win for Gillette.  He gave up two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out six and walking two.  Zach Wilson started the game for Spearfish, giving up three hits, four runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking one. 

​

Sewell and Pollreisz each collected two hist for Spearfish Post 164 JR Legion on the night.  Lyons, Sewell, and Pollreisz each drove in one run, with Pollreisz adding two stolen bases on the night. 

​

Spearfish Post 164 JR Legion Loses Despite Out Hitting Rapid City Post 320 Shooters​

​

Spearfish Post 164 JR Legion fell 7-6 to Rapid City Post 320 Shooters on Friday at Black Hills Energy Stadium despite out-hitting them 10 to 9.  Ryder Allbright, Zach Wilson, and Darin Crooks each collected two hits for Spearfish. 

​

A single by Post 320 put the Shooters on the board in the top of the first.  Crooks had an RBI single in the top half of the first, allowing Walker Viessman to score and tying things up to close out the first. 

​

Spearfish held Post 320 scoreless in the top of the second, and then took the lead in the bottom half when Wilson scored on as Tucker Olson put the ball in play for an RBI.  

 

Spearfish fought back after falling down by four runs in the fifth inning.  Spearfish closed the gap in the bottom half of the inning with Riley Pollreisz reaching base on an error, followed by an RBI double by Brock Lewis.  Sean Sewell then reached base on another Post 320 error.  Crooks kept the inning alive with a bunt, reaching first and allowing Lewis and Sewell to advance to scoring position.  Ziah Torpy hit into a double play, but Lewis was able to score, closing the gap to just 2 runs at the close of the fifth.  

​

Post 320 added one more run in the top of the 6th, making the score 7-4.  Spearfish held Post 320 scoreless in the top half of the seventh and set themselves up for an exciting finish.  

​

Pollreisz started things off with a single with a hard-hit ground ball.  Lewis showed good patience at the plate drawing a walk.  Sewell roped a double to center field driving in Pollreisz and Lewis, bringing Spearfish within 1 with no outs.  A ground out followed by a couple of strike outs, left the tying run stranded on third as Spearfish Post 164 Jr Legion, came up just short with the final score of 7-6.  

​

Spearfish Post 164 JR Legion returns to action Tuesday, 4/23 with a 9 Inning matchup with Gillette.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:30pm at Black Hills Energy Stadium.
