American Legion Baseball started in Milbank, South Dakota in July of 1925. Spearfish soon would have an American Legion team that corresponded with the South Dakota American Legion Post 164. Since the 1920s, Spearfish has had a legion team almost every single year. Spearfish Baseball currently has three programs: Teener (13-14), JR Legion, and SR Legion. Spearfish Post 164 Baseball currently competes in the class "A" division of South Dakota American Legion Baseball and VFW Baseball. All JR & SR Legion home games are played at Black Hills Energy Stadium.  Teeners Games are played at the Spearfish Forest Products Youth Sports Complex-Teener Field.
